.....The desert near Victorville, California is one place were airplanes are sent to be dismantled. There are hundreds of airplanes there, including dozens of retired 747s.

There should be some there.
A little bit far for me. A little bit.

I think they would have noticed if I rolled out of the airplane with a beverage trolley.

Which reminds me: I'd like to find a 747 galley cart. If you spot one lying around, for less than a king's ransom, let me know.
Well no one else is going to ask... So why do you want a 747 galley cart?

Why shouldn't he want one?

Much better than other memorabilia that might easily come off the airframe, such as a dunny door. I remember seeing a dunny door come off the hinges on one of the very late United Airlines (who left out a lot of airlines when they united the airlines) 747 flights from Sydney to the West Coast. One of their somewhat rotund cabin crew had to reattach the door to the hinges. I think it was the last commercial flight of that 747 and within two weeks of United ceasing all 747 service on that route.

Doesn't everyone?

Jokes aside. It's a pretty practical thing. Fits through small doorways, has lots of trays for storing small stuff. Could be good for drinks at the pizza oven, could be good for tools, or even camera stuff storage. Come to think of it, maybe I need three!

Can't wait! Heading to Algonquin park for my and my son's annual spring trout fishing trip. Desperately trying to get the trailer ready for it's first real getaway. For all intents and purposes it is ready to roll but I would really like to get the new solar system fitted and functional. Running out of time! Grass stop growing!!! Gardens, stop needing water! Chores, stop piling up!!!

Stopped to fill the Ram after work today, before leaving the city and heading home.

$157 for just over 21 and a half gallons of diesel.

It is feeling like Europe around here.

Oh, and why two receipts? The credit card companies won’t allow more than $125 for each sale.

Come on, man!

They ask you to come again because they think it is Christmas for them when you come.

You should drive one of your Datsuns, they go further on the same amount of fuel. Remember how they got popular in the 70s when the American companies did not make fuel efficient cars.

Actually the Ram does about as well and as a Datsun Z. I can get 17 to 20 miles to the gallon with either a Z or the Ram.

The key is keeping a light foot on the accelerator pedal.

17 to 20 per gallon is appalling. This afternoon I drive home in my car and at one stage had an average consumption for the journey of 58 miles per real gallon, about 45 to 50 per US gallon. Finished the 25 mile trip with 56 per gallon. About the best I have had in my car. It was about 40 mpg on the way to work this morning, when it was a bit cooler. A bit more up hill on the way to work.

And I need to change the battery in my key fob. Went flat today while I was at work so I needed to use the work around key to get into the car. First time. Just ordered a packet of batteries from the river in Brazil, and found instructions for how to open the fob.

All my stuff seems to be needing replacement at the moment.

2 weeks ago I needed to replace 2 tyres.
1 week ago I needed to replace the light bulbs in the bathroom. 12V 50W halogens replaced with 5W 12V LEDs - 4 for 40% of the operating cost of the last remaining bulb, about 1 year to break even on the purchase.
Yesterday got the kitchen tap fixed: GBP10 parts, GBP80 labour, GBP18 for the government profit for doing nothing.
Soon I will need to put another bunch of fuel in the car.
