17 to 20 per gallon is appalling. This afternoon I drive home in my car and at one stage had an average consumption for the journey of 58 miles per real gallon, about 45 to 50 per US gallon. Finished the 25 mile trip with 56 per gallon. About the best I have had in my car. It was about 40 mpg on the way to work this morning, when it was a bit cooler. A bit more up hill on the way to work.
And I need to change the battery in my key fob. Went flat today while I was at work so I needed to use the work around key to get into the car. First time. Just ordered a packet of batteries from the river in Brazil, and found instructions for how to open the fob.
All my stuff seems to be needing replacement at the moment.
2 weeks ago I needed to replace 2 tyres.
1 week ago I needed to replace the light bulbs in the bathroom. 12V 50W halogens replaced with 5W 12V LEDs - 4 for 40% of the operating cost of the last remaining bulb, about 1 year to break even on the purchase.
Yesterday got the kitchen tap fixed: GBP10 parts, GBP80 labour, GBP18 for the government profit for doing nothing.
Soon I will need to put another bunch of fuel in the car.
