This weekend is the annual assault on Pikes Peak.
It's also the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Fastest up the hill – just watched it on the box – was an electric McMurtry thing which has fan-powered downforce of 2 tonnes plus a thousand electric horsepower or so at the wheels. A new record of 39.08 seconds for this spectacularly daft annual contest.

Gas explosion blasts worker into air - BBC News

I like how they say he is fine, just a little shook up.
It damaged the hedge.

Today I bought a bbq. Of the approved yankee brand.

It it their smallest, the rectangular box portable type. That suits our need. It is a charcoal burner.

Fan powered downforce, eh? Gee, I wonder where they got that idea?

I just discovered that the recent infection with Covid has had no noticeable permanent affect to my senses of taste and smell.

A shot of scotch, neat, savored deliberately, has proven it to be so.

And now, back to work on Eddie, the new fuel tank job that has evolved into a full brake job, master cylinder, calipers and pads, rear cylinders and full reline, all three flex lines, and all hard lines.

Lots of corrosion, requiring considerable use of a die grinder fitted with a ziz wheel.

Should rename Eddie, call him Rusty.

When I pulled him into the shop to start this mess, er, job, I almost changed it to Farm Truck, ‘cause there was grass growing from the soil collected in a rust cavity on rear bedside.

Good for you! I've never had a gas grill and never will. As much as I like King of the Hill I just don't buy Hank's "taste the meat and not the heat".
Man, meat, flammable solids; 'nuff said. (and boiling water, of course, if the meat is ribs. )

Talking of ribs, we had a rack of lamb on Saturday evening, done in the oven with a mint and pomegranate crust. Finest piece of lamb we’ve had in years!!

Well said, but don’t call me Eenglish.
(I’m Aussie, mate. As a kid I used to offer my pommie “friends” ten pounds (the price of a migrant’s fare in those days) to go back home.)

Jim thought it was, see his response above.

But our friend did not describe anything to do with added water. What described sounds good.

We may not hear much from our Mod Mark for a few days, what with him needing to drown his sorrows following the Black Caps 3-0 defeat in England. He has such an excuse that he may cause his house to look like a frat house during induction and hazing when they all arrive back after summer.

Strewth, mate, you had too much pocket money! Or too few pommie friends.
