INTERNATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY - September 13, 2022 - National Today

Be sure to celebrate by having an extra helping of your favorite chocolate!
I like chocolate, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to agree with me. I like white chocolate, milk chocolate...pretty well every type of chocolate. I haven't had any since January of this year.

Ahh well, life is like that...and it could always be worse.

Oh yeah, before I forget, I love Chocolate Milk.

Geez, while I'm on the subject ...Swiss chocolate bars...French chocolate is quite good too..

Our local grocery store used to handle a Swiss chocolate that was made, actually in Bucharest, Romania. It was wunderbar ....but for some reason the store dropped the product, much to my sorrow,

Interesting story behind this company.

https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8...6fqvE_e-7tXiSK

What I do now, not eating chocolate anymore...is when in a grocery store, I go to the chocolate section...and just spend a moment or two, gazing at all the chocolate products that are available, and that I ate, enjoyed...in fact...relished..in times past.

For instance, I'll see some Mars Bars...and reflect on some of the good times I had with this brand of bar.

Lindt is another product , of which I have fond memories.

Well thinking of chocolate of the past, I must admit, that although there is nothing wrong with just thinking of chocolate, it is not the same as eating the stuff.

My Bobservation for this day.

I saw a joke about white chocolate many years ago which had three empty rectangles drawn on the page. It said white chocolate looked like the first rectangle, smelled like the second rectangle (scratch and sniff...) and tasted like the third, which had a dashed outline, a scissors symbol and the instruction "cut out and chew".

It must be said that white chocolate has not a drop of cocoa in it, but is made with carob. My favourite real chocolates are all around 50-60% cocoa – mmmmmmm!

I feel the same way about the walleye that evrybody around here is so crazy about.
Walleye and a Budweiser ⇌ rice cake and a glass of water.

Interesting experience at the dentist today. The Novocaine never kicked in. Had the filling done without it. I out went for breakfast on the way home. Still waiting for it to kick in 2 hours later.
Yikes! Rather you than me.

When I needed a tooth extraction the first time the anaesthetic had not taken when the dentist started work. The dentist stopped and sent me away with a prescription for antibiotics to fix the problem with infection preventing it working. Went back a week later. That time 2 hours in the chair and at one time two dentists and the assistant digging in my mouth. And the tooth broke off and they could not get it out, even with drilling out some of the jaw bone. They referred me to a dental surgeon to finish the job because they did not have the specialist tools to get it out. At least under NHS it is fixed price for a tooth extraction regardless of how many visits and people get involved.

BTW it did permanent damage to one of the nerves. At least it is numbness not pain.

Bummer.

I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t have chocolate.

Chocolate is good for us.

The only thing better than chocolate, is candied bacon dipped in chocolate.

So nice to finally have enough light in the garage. I fitted some secondhand lights that I got from a friend some 9 months ago but only got round to connecting them up a week ago.
And, with a big frost being forecast for tomorrow morning and a -3degC start to the day, I stuck both cars in the garage.

Now I have to sort out that messy workbench.....

Show me a clean and tidy workshop, and I’ll show you a workshop where nothing ever gets done.

Notice I have room to work, even have a lift so those pesky jobs on the undercarriage can be performed while standing, rather than rolling around on a creeper on the floor.

Thanks Mark! It's nice to know I am not the only one with a messy workbench. My first day of retirement is Friday so maybe I'll clean the shop.....or I could go out 4-wheeling....hmmmmm

If he was English he would leave the car out over night because of the health benefits of the exercise scraping the ice off the windscreen.

Which is more fun?

And there will be many days of stay inside weather coming in a few weeks, probably starting soon after pumpkin day.

I'd love a lift but the car would end up in the rafters!
