semaca and LeRolls - Wonderful job

LeRolls - what do you use for editing? What software and technique? The skin tones look really nice.

K3 18-135 Kit

i've only had the K3 for about a month now. it's my first DSLR. i was using point and shoots and camera phones for last decade. before that i was shooting 35mm film and 4x5 polaroids. the 18-135 kit will have to due for a while. anyway, this is my first post. the images are of my daughter and our family pup, and a shot of some Echinacea from my garden. a little editing was done on my daughter's image but none on the flowers. if you're unfamiliar with Google's Nik Collection, it's a handy little add-on to PS. i love the extra looks. enjoy.

Thank you kindly.

I use LR5 and Color Efex Pro 4 for the most part. As far as technique goes it's kind of hard for me to explain but in regards to skin tones specifically I would say that I almost exclusively shoot with the FA Limiteds which give me a really solid starting off point especially the 77 and the 31. As well as using an external flash which adds just a little pop to the model's face especially if they are in shadow. It also helps that this particular model used to be a make-up artist so she knows her stuff. Editing wise I am a fan of some of the CEP4 presets, mainly Film Efex: Modern which emulates old films like velvia and agfa. From there it really comes down to personal preferences and mine are constantly evolving and changing. Not sure how much that helped but there it is.

Thank you. That's really good information. Your images have that magazine quality that I like.

How hard is to get flying Colibri/Hummingbird in focus... Shoot at ISO800 in the evening.
Noise reduction applied and slight crop. Hummingbird was around 3-4 meters away.

Excellent shots, everyone! Very nice work on the hummingbird, RAART! They are so difficult.

Here is shot I got of a Perseid meteor, just before dawn Friday morning. I'd left the K-3 out set to interval shooting, starting at 1:00am. 15 second exposures, every 20 seconds. ISO 2500. Rokinon 14mm lens. Out of the hundreds of photos taken, less than 10 had meteors in them. I like this one because of the tone of the coming dawn in the sky and the nice look at the Pleiades star cluster.
