Some recent shots, mostly reposted from Show Me Your Insects, though the grasshopper is here first... All single frames except for the dragonfly portrait, which is a focus stack. As usual, full details and higher res versions by clicking over to Flickr.

Great shots, as always. I'm always amazed by the sharpness and detail of your shots. You have really honed your skills over time.

Amazing. The dragonfly in the higher resolution on flickr is revelatory. For some reason I couldn't click through from the images here to flickr, but had to go to flickr first and then to your photostream. Anyway, wonderful work.

a pond is something I can quickly swim across

a lake takes more effort

IMHO, YMMV

Sunset and thereabouts

There's a little promontory behind the University of Hawai'i medical school campus where for the moment one can get a straight-on view of the setting sun. These are all with the 18-135mm WR. The shot of the cruise ship is heavily adjusted in Alien Skin's Exposure X2.

Autumn in the San Juan's

Last weekend I (along with what seemed like a thousand other photographers) journeyed to SW Colorado to capture the glorious aspens at near the height of their autumnal splendor. Most of these were taken near the Sneffels Wilderness area southwest of Ridgway. The waterfalls are on the east side of Telluride.

A storm system was passing through which created some dramatic skies, but at times was tough to capture any landscapes with some sunlight.

All shots were taken with the DA 18-135.

'Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas [ Oklahoma ] anymore.'

Very Nice the series brings back pleasant memories of terrain we saw in the Gran Tetons and Yellowstone this year

Thanks

Thanks all! I do think my skill level is still improving, but it's definitely a challenge to keep pushing higher. It's the 80-20 rule I think - trying to get that last 20% is four times as hard as getting the first 80%, so sometimes it feels like you're running in circles. I think the improvement shows more in the aggregate than when looking at single images...

Yes, I saw that too for a while yesterday. Flickr uses abbreviated URLs in its bbcode links (to a server at flic.kr) and that server was down for a while. It's back now, so it should all be working.

Here are my latest posted shots. First one is same red-faced individual as previously posted. (If I did background replacement, that would be the perfect candidate. Alas, that is something I choose not to do.)
