I dunno, I think you are too hard on yourself. You managed to do some amazing work, and deserve all the credit you get. You could also try making the common and mundane into interesting art by finding different ways to photograph them, if you need to find a new way to challenge yourself. How about BMIF's? (Bug Macro's In Flight)
I've tried my hand at this, and it is like golf, the hole in one is elusive and will keep you going.
