Australia. It's a Banksia - probably B. serrata. Here's one with the K-3 + DFA 100.
The genus was named for Joseph Banks, the botanist on HMS Endeavour, which sailed up the east coast of Australia in 1770 under the command of James Cook. Banks later became President of the Royal Society, and was a lion of British science for half a century. He was also instrumental in the British government's decision to establish a penal colony in New South Wales and the foundation of Sydney.
The Banksia genus has about 170 species, all indigenous to Australia. Show one to an Australian abroad and even the hardiest of them will weep with homesickness!
