Lake Superior is under a Gale Warning today. For those of you who haven't been overwhelmed by Gordon Lightfoot's song, The ore freighter Edmond Fitzgerald sank during a gale on Lake Superior the evening of November 10, 1975. This gale in my experience is not as strong as the one in 1975, but certainly no captain should risk being on the open Lake today.

The family has a small seasonal cottage on Lake Superior on a bay facing southeast (close to the gale's wind direction). Other than blowing the cap off the chimney and dropping a few branches, there was no damage.

K-3 & DA 18-135 WR (advisable for today's shots)
Great photo, brrr, I'm cold just looking at this, can feel the cold air blowing off the water.

From today's walk
Some dogs like balls, some like sticks

The squirrel tree. A few years ago as squirrel dug a borrow under this tree, and we left him 4 or 5 peanuts every day, Duder the toor (the yellow birch in the centre of the photograph). He hasn't been back, but, it will forever be the "squirrel tree".

He found the one little open spot where he could get drink.

The view from the ridge

Waiting for the guy taking "view from the ridge" images.

Hi All,

I hope all is great with you! I've been gone for a while. Some sad personal stuff but I'll get back in the saddle again. I bought a new 55-300 PLM for Black Friday and wow, it's really good. Shot a show with my K3 and my Canon EOS R. The EOS R is very good but the old, very old K3 still has it. I didn't know there was an updated firmware and it seems to have helped with AF.

Thundercat in concert.

EOS R with the Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-f4 for comparison - shows how good the K3 still is

These look really nice. I think the middle one would be nice a little warmer.
