I will be in Adelaide first.
Ebay and Amazon sell cheaper third party ones, usually with cheaper third party batteries, but I imagine that won't be an option if you're travelling. Your other option would be to buy a battery grip and use the AA adapter, which probably isn't ideal as it'll make for a bigger, heavier kit.

Thanks, I will look tomorrow at the third party options. The OEM one was very expensive. I found some third party offers that seemed good.

can't speak about 3rd party battery grips but I enjoy the Pentax battery grips I have for my K 3 and K 5 II.

they fit my hand well, have a place to put an extra sd card and the option the second insert section using AA batteries which are not hard to find any where I can think of

I routinely carry an extra batter in the grip and if I wanted to lighten the system, I could remove the grip and/or battery at any time, no special tools needed.

I agree. Actually, the camera doesn't feel right to me without the grip attached, and I always have the AA carrier with me with fresh AA's in it.

for first time I tried developing image in Darktable as the other PC with Adobe CC was disassembled for cleaning. Not bad I think but I need to learn a lot how to process images in Linux. I used Linux as my PC to go for web browsing but this is first time trying it for other stuff.

First image ever in Darktable!

As I have said in two other threads today

Post your HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW pictures!

The 300mm plus lens Club discuss your long lenses.

I really like this combination of the K 3 + HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW hand held

1 - original

2 - cropped and pp
