Like the shot. I should be able to see the colours from here, but the mountains either side of the house seem to get in the way.

I spent a week or two there *several* years ago,, in uniform.
There is a high turn over rate here, my daughter worked in the main office, after a year she was the longest staying person there.

We often comment that we seldom see any soldiers around the base, the reply is "See, cammo works!"

My uniform was blue, not too much of that around here.

Light blue or dark blue? in 1965 I transferred to Canadian Forces Medical Services. Until my cataract operation in 2007 I didn't need magnifying glasses; I could focus from about 4 inches to 12 (4.75, 5.00) my eyeballs grew too far from lens to retina. My boss at the Canadian Forces Medical Services Training Centre in Camp Borden wore dark blue; his boss wore light blue. I wore brown.

Mine was light blue, but a darker shade than here. I boast a bit, I joined the RAF at 16 as an apprentice, but was medically discharged a year later. We lived near Niagara Falls since 1976 and moved here about 6 months ago, just in time for winter!

There is as lot more tri service integration here since they combined the services. In my short time there was a strong rivalry and little mixing, but now it's more friendly.

Unusual vessel passing by Church Cove, Gunwalloe, on the Lizard Peninsula Cornwall.

I believe this is the "M.V Bokassa Vanguard" which is a submersible heavy lift ship.

It operates like a floating dry dock by taking ballast water into tanks and part sinking to allow large floating items, ships, etc., to be manoeuvred above. Once in position the vessel pumps out the ballast water and lifts up with the cargo on deck.

K-3ii and HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR.Severe crop as the ship was some way off-shore.

Here's Markarian's Chain in Virgo taken from my front yard with a 150mm f/2.8 reflector with a 420mm focal length. It is a stack of multiple images.
