I am a professional photographer and frankly I'm tired of the management of the P-TTL on the K5. I want to change the camera body specifically for this reason. Does anyone know if the management of the P-TTL is REALLY improved on the K-3?

It's fixed even on the K-5II.

Tested this tonight - bounce flash in a dance studio full of mirrors.

Based on this initial testing I'd say the problems are fixed; photos appear correctly exposed, and can easily be controlled via flash exp comp.

Very happy personally, as it was a big pain before!

thats good news but i am going to wait before buying me any flashes to see if Ricoh releases the Flagship AF600FGZ mentioned in Pentax Forum news

The new AF 560 II is expensive enough. I'm afraid to speculate how much a new 'flagship' flash might be.

Nice to hear it.
On the K5 the situation was intolerable and I had even thought of switching to Nikon (reluctantly). But if the problem was solved really is a great thing, especially because it allows me to stay in Pentax.

I agree! Was a real hope of mine. I've also tried prompting the problems at home (small hallway shooting into a mirror) and it seemed fine then also!

Metz flashguns can be updated, cured the K5 and K-01 problems, still works fine with older Pentax bodies. Funny that the Q never had the problem.

Didn't pentax people say the problem was in the K5 hardware? That would suggest no firmware would fix it, and other cameras wouldn't have it.

I have tried using the K3 with flash and for bounce flash, exposures seem much more consistent. I did a wedding last weekend with the K5IIs and flash exposure was all over the place.

Legend?
I speak from experience. The fact that my K5 with the latest firmware updates (both body and Metz AF 560 2) has always had problems with bounce flash is a fact, not a legend. The legends are all those wars on formats (FF vs APS, etc.etc.) created by amateur photographers and not concrete data reported by a photographer who works with photography.
