Adam, I'm aware it's been awhile since you made this comparison but if you still have the files would you mind posting the full resolution image from the K-3 for comparison?

personally, I think a better test would have been to scale both images to the equivalent of 20"x30".

I must be missing something. The second file is considerably soft on my monitor. Having owned the K-3 and a 16mp camera (K-30), I am sure the difference isn't really that huge. The reason I am sure that the second file isn't quite focused is that the moire in the fence is far less apparent in the second shot. In reality, as sensor resolution increases, moire becomes less apparent in the filterless cameras. Equally sharp images would show more moire in the lower resolution camera.

In any event, any form of downsizing (or upscaling) of images to create a supposed "fair" comparison isn't truly fair. Even using Lanczos 8x8 (the best of the resizing methods) is a compromise assuming no sharpening is applied. I'm glad that Adam worked from RAW because the goal is to get the best possible output. However, the saturation and color balance of the two images aren't close, and the best RAW conversion settings for the two sensors are quite different. Finally, the sharpening capabilities of LR/ACR are somewhat less capable than the better converters.

You can really get better detail out to the 24mp sensor, especially at the higher ISOs, if you have a good micro-contrast sharpener (such as Structure in Capture One).
