Heck! I think I prefer our system where we don't pay customs duty nor GST (VAT) on purchases under A$1000.

I buy stuff from overseas nearly weekly and haven't paid duty or GST in years.

Why do you think Europe's economies, including Germany's, are collapsing?

Everything is filled with mindless red tape and bureacratic gatekeepers at every level that can't figure anything out, so they add themselves to the arbitrariness and corruption. This is why I have prepaid legal in Germany for most things because even when things are stated explicitly, you have some gatekeeper that wants to make it even tougher. So you just use your prepaid to send a letter and handle it.

Hallo! Why don't you just call german customs. They're helpful

But I do think you'll have to pay at least Mehrwertsteuer.
