As the camera did not arrive with one, I'm wondering if any standard "Micro B" cable with the dual male connector will do, as these are cheap. Also, what about USB 2.0 cables? Looks like the older Pentax cables aren't compatible.

According to the manual page 66 (English) the K-3 uses a standard Micro B cable.
