Metering the K and M lenses on the K3

I've got a LOT of legacy glass. Most of them meter OK on the K-5, not perfect but fixable in pp. And much much better than either the K10 or K20. Legacy glass and the pop-up flash is still hit or miss on the K-5, tho part of that problem may be the Kats Eye focus screen I use. I don't use the pop-up all that much so it's not a big deal. I'm wondering if anyone has checked metering with the K-3 and legacy glass. Does anyone know if it is better than the K-5?

What legacy glass are you most interested in? I have K, M, and Takumar M42 glass I'll be using with my K-3. I found my K-7 could meter spot-on with M42 lenses on manual aperture. For the K and M lenses, I'll be using manual mode and exposure compensation, most likely.

I have the K 28 F/2.0; K 50 F/1.2; K 100 macro; K 135 F/2.5 and the K 300 F/4; the M 35 F/2 the M 120 F/2.8 and the M 200 F/4. I have only 1 M42 lens, the 55 F/1.8. I found that that lens meters correctly on every camera body I've used it on, including the K20-D. I'd be most interested in the K 135; the K 50 and the K300, those are the lenses I use most often.

NaCl(but I'd be interested in almost any K or M lens)H2O

Okay, so I have the Takumars 50mm 1.4 and 55mm 1.8. I also have the 50 1.4 and 50 2.0 SMC-M lenses. I will give those a shot in the weeks or so after the camera arrives and see what I learn.

I'll be having my K-3 with in few days. So I'll give some of my A lenses a go, as some others too, incl. takumars.

I've found the A lenses to correctly meter on all the bodies I've owned (that statement sounds weird somehow). I'm not sure but I think the metering problems with the K and M lenses is somehow due to the stopdown metering process. In any event I can pretty much rely on my A lenses (I have a several of those too) to meter correctly for the most part. It's only been the K and M lenses that I've had a problem with.

NaCl(and it's not a straight curve either, under expose on wider apertures, over expose stopped down)H2O

Yea,

But. I have had some issues with my K-7. Now, just quick and dirty with my s.tak...maybe images later, I'm at work now and trying quickly. It is far better from beginning. Now, need to try with other lenses too. But even ISO@12800(!!!) it seems really good. AWB, no problem. My K-7 would be suffering allready ISO3200. So proper testing ahead. Biggest thing so far is sharpnes and contrast out of box, colors wow.

Edit: I have had K-3 now for 20 minutes or so.

At high ISO6400-> I have some really unbalanced shots. Dunno what is causing that. It was same with K-7, but it started around ISO 1600...

I actually tried this. Not bad, not bad at all. Just what I coould wish. Now, using on camera flash for triggering offcamera flash. That I must try too.

Here is one shot with K-3 and M 50/1.4

I have noticed, that with old lenses this camera has some tint after I bring it to LR 5.2 maybe it is because of DNG file. It looks good at camera. I must try if JPEGs has same thing.

That looks pretty good!

That cat is quite hard to get spot on. Black...fur reflects so many colors. Also some light came from window, and some from bulb light.

Also, I might be right now at there, where some ones were with their K-5 DR. Images looks so pale, when there is not so much dark light contrasts at shadows. It will take some time, I quess to get used to that.
