My First K-3 Glitch

I took my K-3 out this weekend and shot around 1,500 photos. At the end of the day I was scrolling quickly through the photos to scan them. After about 10 or so played back quickly (going into play and holding left on the direction buttons to scroll backwards through time), the display would go black and I'd have to turn the camera off and on twice to get it functioning again. This happened with the battery grip powered on an not powered on. This also happened scrolling forward through time. In fact, it happened if I looked at photos for less than about a half second.

Sounds like there are definitely some unresolved stability issues with the grip as a power source. Hopefully a firmware update will fix them!

I hope so. But I also hope it's the grip since it happened as often when the grip was powered off as not. It's worth noting I had the grip attached each time, so there may be something to that.

I managed to get my K-3 to lock up last night - first time it's happened.

Grip on, batteries in body and grip, battery in grip with priority.
The grip battery was apparently out of juice as I got the depleted screen and it turned off... fine, I turned it back on but was a bit too slow in doing what I wanted and got the screen again and it turned off... third time, turned it on again, and wanted to navigate to the menu to set the battery to the body, but the camera froze on the menu and wouldn't turn off. I had to take out both batteries. Somewhat ironic, haha.

Sure sounds like the grip and the body don't like working with each other.

The only other variable not explored by anyone yet is what happens if you run decent [Eneloops or Energizer] AA's in the grip, instead of the standard lithium battery? That may (or may not) show up something interesting.

That certainly adds another variable. Mine simply froze without any batteries in the grip. Errrrrr.

OK, strike out using AA's as a test.

So does this leave using the battery without a grip as the only scenario where the glitch does not occur?
