Adam, you may be right and hopefully you are. You just never know whether something is software or hardware limited. Well, somebody does but it's not us.

I Hope a firmware fix comes out soon with all this issues with the penta k-3 I can not imagine pentax repairing or replacing all these cameras. If I where them I would do a firmware as quick as possible to avoid returns. Dont forget most of us have a 30 day return policy I don't think they what to deal with that...Just My Thoughts.............

Just had another problem today which just went away. I was photographing some objects in the manual mode, camera oriented straight down from a tripod, shake reduction off, f/11 at around 1/40 sec, 2 second delay, using the 18-135mm Pentax lens.

When I triggered off my second shot, the camera made a startling noise like the shutter was machine-gunning continuously. This continued for about 5 seconds. I turned the camera off, and after another second or two, the noise stopped. I checked my shots, and no picture was taken. I thought for a moment I'd have to remove the battery to make it stop. When I looked through the viewfinder, I saw the object I was trying to photograph, but very cloudy and with lots of spots as though seeing it through a very dirty window. Spooked me, but the phenom has not returned. I turned the camera on again, and things returned to normal. I chalked it up to another random firmware glitch. Pentax/Ricoh Imaging, are you listening? Is firmware update 1.01 coming soon?

P.S. The movies I take, when played on my computer, do not have sound. They do when I play them back on the camera, but not the computer. Perhaps I have older software that does not recognize the sound track. Annoying.

Just as I thought of starting a similar thread, I came across this thread, and since I had compiled a "list" of reported issues on this Forum, I might as well contribute.
In spite of everything and anything that has been said about K3 reliability issues, I nevertheless have decided to order my own K3 .... so take this list with a grain of salt and decide for yourself.

Note that some seem like genuine "issues", some are the user's fault(s); some are "annoyances" rather than actual defects.
