I want to get the k-3 but I see so many nagging issues in threads here, LCD issues, shutter issues, flash issues.... did all the k-5's suffer from this? or just the first one?
I'm also curious about other brands, do new models from other manufacturers suffer from the same "new model" issues? I'm only curious about this, I will always stay with Pentax.
If you're going to upgrade, go for the K-3. There isn't much sense in going from the K-5 to the K-5 IIs unless you badly need its low-light AF IMO.The whole AA filter removal thing (again, in my humble opinion) is way overrated, though the IIs would certainly give you a bit more sharpness with good primes at fast apertures.

I think most users won't experience any issues, and even if they do, I'm sure there will be a firmware fix to address any software-based instabilities. The K-5 had a lot of Q&A issues when it came out, including sensor stains, which affected a high percentage of early production units. So far, it doesn't look like the K-3 has any such manufacturing defects. It's the same story with other brands. For example, the Nikon D600's shutter design was flawed and it would accumulate dust over time. They fixed the issue in late production D600's and then released the D610 to cover themselves up for good.
