These two photos were taken at Monument Valley just before sunset. First photo tone was set on radiant. Second photo tone was set on natural. Need to be careful.

It would probably be better to shoot in RAW, so that you retain the full ability to apply whatever amount of processing you desire for any particular outcome.

yes, I always shoot in raw and jpeg. Posted this just to show dramatic difference just because of tone adjustment

The problem with the southwest, and in particular Arizona, both images could be perfectly correct. It all depends on the time of day, lighting conditions, sky conditions, time of year (brightness) and especially the colors projected by the sun at sunset/sunrise.

Both images taken within seconds of each other. The "natural" reflects actual conditions.

I found something similar with the default jpg settings (bright?). The default settings oversaturated a blue screen on my coffee maker so that you couldn't see the words. The words were very legible on the raw file. There are a number of reasons to shoot jpg only, so it's good to know the limitations and what the various settings/color space do.

Radiant setting is a bit of an overshoot, it produces about the same effect in the k-30 as well... i prefer to stick to vibrant or bright and would try it for maybe some intentionately over-radical effect-shots. TBH i think the radiant setting is mostly useless...

I think I got that radiant setting by accident. I think it would have very limited use. Took some shots of red rocks partially lit by sunlight with same setting. Instead of gold light it was sort of a canary yellow

At some point you just say "natural schmatural" and use the best image. Reality isn't what it used to be.

I sometimes use the landscape and film reversal settings. But yes, have to be careful because sometimes it can be over the top
