Comet ISON footage

For those who want to follow ISON through perihelion, head over to

SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids

where they have footage of the event. ISON is still holding together and is now very bright although lost in the sun's glare.

I left it up to the mods to move it to the proper forum. I couldn't see where this one would fit. Since there is general interest from K-3 owners, that is where I put it.

Fair enough. I think I'd have probably posted off topic stuff in the General Talk forum.

General Talk - PentaxForums.com

But you're right, it is interesting stuff

Personally, I would much rather read this off-topic thread than that ridiculous thread, "why I won't buy a k3".

C/2012 S1 ISON is indeed quite a fascinating adventure. First it's dead, then its still sort of hanging on by a thread, its nucleolus is either gone, ripped apart and re-condensing, or none of the above. I am hoping it will emerge as something to photograph (with my new K-3) beginning around Dec. 6th.

I'll bring this thread back on topic. I am really excited about the low light capability of the K-3. Unfortunately, I haven't had an opportunity to compare my K-3 to my older K-5 and also test how the O-GPS-1 works with the K-3.

With the serious video limitations solved on the K-3, I am in full on love-mode for Pentax/Ricoh. I've come a long way since my Pentax Forum bitch sessions in regards to the terrible K20D low light issues and the forced DFS. I have since dumped my Canon and I am about the closest thing to a Pentax/Ricoh fanboy now.

Can't wait to get hold of my Pentax FLU card and really show off to my Canon/Nikon buds.

Seems the last remnant of ISON is burning up now. Pity. Back to Comet Lovejoy, I guess.

It seems that this comet has inspired poets as well, not only photographers and astronomers.

A Poem for Comet ISON

Comet Ison
Where’d you go?
Cause no one here
Seems to know.

Will I see you
Late at night?
From your death
Defying flight.

Frozen fireworks,
Rocks and ice.
To re-emerge
That would be nice

The sun is hot,
So now you know.
Around the sun
You should not go.
