It's nice to know I am an enthusiast, simply by the camera I use.
What cameras do all the un-enthusiastic (indifferent/timid/wary/lukewarm/prudent/cautious/dull) people use?

They mention the onscreen user interface being unrefined. I guess I see what they mean - if it looks like on the previous Pentax DSLRs, its not really "beautiful" or "stylish." But its functional, I think its actually easier to understand and operate than most other brands at this camera level. Of course, some brands have a cooler font, and their low tier cameras even have pictures and little welcomes and sounds they play.. but honestly, Im glad Pentax keeps that to a minimum.

My wife is running through the menus on her new X-5 to turn all the crazy beeps and honks off. I'm encouraging her.

I just went to the conclusions page - and they say they had a close call to put the Nikon in front of the Pentax. It's been a long time since they went that far. They claim slightly better AF on the Nikon.

Smartphones. And any one of those apps that make pictures look like they came out of an open daguerreotype.
