Hmm, it is obviously clipping heavily. I should hope that any built-in mics would be capable of a far better performance. I have to wonder if it is a yet-to-be-addressed bug. My old Samsung pocket cam does way better. I'll have to test my K-3 with my Polk system and some crazy loud bass.

Pentax uses lousy microphones. Maybe cause they have to be water resistant?

So I guess the mics in the non-WR K-01 are far, far higher spec, as my K-01's produce great sounding audio.

My K-01 produces a lot of background hiss and the AGC creates volume ramping waves when there's relative quiet as it hunts for audio.

Thanks for all you reply.
While I couldn't confirm it's normal or a real issue on my K3, I decided to return it while I still could.
Hopefully others' K3 don't have this issue and it's just my camera issue.

Have you tried it using the Audio Out from an external recorder?

I don't have external mic so that I haven't got a chance to try it. However, in case of the internal mic issue, I've returned the camera.
Thanks for your reply.

Not exactly what I meant, but,...

Let us know how you go with warranty service etc, or if you just got an exchange unit.
