Problem with Upper LCD Display

Has any one else seen this problem in a new K-3?

The Upper LCD (near the shutter button) does not fully display. It appears that there are lines of non-dsplaying text in the display. In addition, the battery life does not display as fully charged even when a fully charged Pentax battery is inserted.

Are there solutions beyond the dreaded "send it back"? Thanks!
