Mind if I contribute too, even though I use a K-5? DA 50 at f1.8, ISO 25600, 2 seconds, handheld (well, leaning on the window).

Wow that's an extraordinary photo. I never even thought such a photo would be possible without some NASA type equipment mounted to the airplane.

I've tried to take some photos through a train window in night time, and all I can get was reflections of the inside lights.

Thanks guys. I tried to cover the light from inside the plane with my hands. It was quite awkward and I had to try a lot... cause any turbulence --> stars have motion blur. Camera not held steady enough? Motion blur. Plane changes direction? Motion blur. And the red light was flashing, and only on for a short time, so hitting that wasn't too easy either. Luckily the plane was in "sleep mode", the lights inside were dimmed. Otherwise this wouldn't have been possible.

(Always try to book a window seat on a plane, you never know what magical scene you may get (sunset is also absolutely gorgeous from a plane). And pray to get relatively clean windows...).
