70-200 2.8 on a k-3

Greetings forum,

Can anybody comment on the autofocus on the k-3 for the Tamy 70-200 vs. Sigma 70-200 vs. Da* 60-250 on the K-3.
Does the Sigma still outperform the other two lenses by a considerable margin ?

Because the K-3 has a faster screwdrive motor, the relative speed of the Tamron is going to feel improved over the K-5 II. But I'd still consider the Sigma to be the best lens for action.

I like the lens optically but my keeper rate for moving targets with the K-5 is around 50% (that might not be too bad now that I think of it!). The K-3 definitely drives it more quickly in a point around the room test so I'm encouraged. Can't comment on the Sigma or Pentax as I don't have them.

I hate you!
I wish you would just tell me the tamron is just as fast so that i could save $400 and not worry about motor issues.

Sigma has HSM so Sigmas AF will be much more quiet than Tamron AF. This will make big difference in some places where noise is not good idea.

Shooting mostly sports and outdoors so noise is a non issue.

The Tamron focusing still occasionally gets lost on the K3 as it did on my K5. I'm not sure if it's something with the lens but I have heard others describing the same type of problem. I'm very happy with the Sigma OS version. It's also very quiet and fast!

I am not sure about it. I own two Sigma 50-500 - the first one is an old version (EX, non-OS, screwdriver), the second one is a current version (OS, non-EX, HSM). The first version is definitely faster than the second one. I shoot the sport with these lenses, shoot a lot of pictures per day and I think I can feel enough good even the small differencies in the AF speed between two these lenses.

P.S. It may be interesting to test the AF speed of DA* 4.0/60-250 with disabled SDM (screwdriver only).

I just sold this lens because of subpar auto focus speed.
Even if I still had it I would have a hard time playing with the internals of an expensive Da* lens.
With my luck I would mess up so bad that I would disable motor \ screw mount and the lens cap would probably no longer fit.
