Put my K-3 through its paces this weekend

Overnight backpacking at Mt. Rainier NP. Temps dropped to about 8 degrees, and the K-3 stayed outside all night. Threw some hand warmers on the lens to ward off the fogging on the lens (18-135wr). Zero issues all weekend!

Yep, that's what I'm talkin' about! That's what Pentax is all about.

That's the honest life for photo equipment. Anything less is wimpy.

Excellent - I am so pleased I am in NZ and it is the middle of summer, it has been a very pleasant 70F here today.

Very good to know that the K3 will handle that sort of punishment for when we head into winter here.

I trust you kept yourself warm

Beautiful shot. Those star trails are from a longer exposure than 30 seconds, though. I assume at least two exposures here?

It's about 45 exposures. It didn't turn out perfect, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. First time trying the star trail thing.

I believe it was 30 sec at f3.5 and ISO 800. I used the built in intervelometer. Set it to 100 frames. About 50 were usable, as my buddy was bivying in front of the camera and turned his headlamp on :-).

Nice documentation, really cool to see all that frost on the body and know it kept working fine Nice image with the star trails overtop the mountain, too!

Also, post it on DPR to show why the K-3 got the DSLR of Year 2013 award:

Great photos and I suppose a marvelous experience, too. Were those handwarmers sufficient to prevent fogging troughout your 100 exposures?
