Great shots of a camera working perfectly in 'challenging' conditions! - definitely ones for the Pentax marketing department. I also agree with Deni - post it on DPR to show that when Pentax say WR they mean it.

Overnight backpacking at Mt. Rainier NP. Temps dropped to about 8 degrees, and the K-3 stayed outside all night. Threw some hand warmers on the lens to ward off the fogging on the lens (18-135wr). Zero issues all weekend!
I just downloaded the first and third picture and am hereby asking for permission to slap them into CaNikon fanboys' faces as a pro-Pentax argument

Sell it to Pentax. These are great marketing shots.
Exactly, a photo like that and the story that goes with it could sell crates of K-3s!

Kudos to your efforts taking pics in extreme cold. Loved your pics from flickr.
An amazing camera like K3 indeed is handicapped by poor marketing, horrible customer support and callous 'official' outlets like PentaxWebStore. No sure where do we go from here!

Thanks everyone. Feel free to use the photos at will to tell the story of how awesome the camera is!

Hey DJ,

You should share your photos/story on reddit photography forum. Photography It's a very big community (more than 200k subscribers). The top post right now is a similar story to yours, just that it didn't work for him . So I thought it would be cool if you posted your story too.

I guess it would be fun to have a whole thread here of PF where people can post stories (and ideally pictures!) illustrating the most severe abuse their cameras have had to take.

It was fun while it lasted. K-3 and 18-135 stolen out of my truck in the driveway. Went to grab something out of it in the evening and forgot to lock it. The cam was in the center console, under some stuff. Police report filed, serial # 4829882.

Cheers~

Oh boy, sad to hear that But chances are the K3 will get up, overwhelm the thief and come running back to you like the magic wooden chest in Terry Pratchett's discworld novels

Well, I pulled the trigger on a lightly used K-3 and DA* 16-50 off of Adorama and B&H, respectively. Got both (w/ warranties) for $1200.

I plan to add the DA* 60-250 to give me a well rounded setup for my outdoor work. When the 16-50 craps out, I'll pick up another, or maybe add the 16-85 (when the price normalizes).

Can't wait to get back out there and shoot some decent photos!
