Did you read page 49 of the manual?

Ummmmm....I thought 3 I bought on Ebay didnt work on my K30 !
That was before I turned it on and enabled it in settings ?
I bought a total of 3 for $1.99 each.......then I figured out that reading the manual might enable them....lol
They work just fine.

OK, I have been to page 49 and found the setting on the camera.

When it is enabled in the camera, the red light on the front of the camera flashes.

But the IR transmitter still does nothing. Maybe the K3 needs a different type. It looks exactly like the one sold on Amazon "for K3" and the battery checks at 3.3V.

Note that the rear sensor is very insensitive, the remote need to be very close. The front sensor will work from a much greater distance.

Clearly there are differences among the very similarly looking IR triggers, because the one I have certainly doesn't work with the K3.

I have a Yongnuo radio trigger so I am not too bothered but the IR method is nice because the camera end is self contained.

Can anyone point out a trigger which definitely works on their K3?

ShutterBOT

For the ones having phones with ir blaster, you could try this one too and confirm whether it works or not.

I have an HTC One M8 and use a similar app that has a built in setting for Pentax cameras. It works for my K3 and K5. It's made by Power7.net (the app developer as identified on Google Play).

I'm not sure that the app has to be phone specific, but they do make ones that appear to be for HTC and Samsung. I have not tested my old Pentax IR remote, but I assume it would work since it worked with my K5.

I can now confirm that both of these work with the K-x, K7, Q, and the K3.

The smaller one does shutter only, the larger shutter + AF.

I have a cheap JJC remote that works fine with my K3ii but my problem is that after a minute the camera gets in a sleep mode and I have to press halfway the shutter button to restart the ir remote function. How can I disable or extend this period?
