Came down with the FLU (card). Questions?

Hi all,
I'm Brendan and I review digital cameras for Reviewed.com. I reviewed the K-3 late last year. Pentax Ricoh Imaging sent us a FLU Card last week. I'm planning a brief feature on the card and what it does this week. Are there any specific questions you guys all have regarding this fabled piece of hardware?

Cheers,
-brendan

Hi, Brendan. Thanks for checking in for our input. I would like you to test the Live View performance. I will be using the FLU mostly for checking focus during astrophotography and a working Live View is essential for this. Also, If you notice any power drain on the camera.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

My only question: Is the live view for remote wireless tether really live or is it a still capture?

How useful is it for checking focus compared to using the rear LCD, particularly for narrow DOF, low light?

What's the range? How far away can you be and still use LV and operate the camera?

How much control do you have over transferring files to a computer? Can you limit it to JPG only? Are files transferred as shots are taken or as a batch via a command? Can I selectively transfer an image without transferring all?

How usable and well thought out are the interfaces (in-camera, web and phone/tablet apps)?

Can I use LV and operate the camera using a web browser on any device, or must I use an app with a specific version of Android and/or iOS? If both web browser and apps are available, are there any significant advantages to using one or the other?

Thanks!

Reportedly (not necessarily truthful - just reports) the Beta version was prone to running hot. How hot is the final version?

compare writing high-res JPEGs to FLUcard vs. best-in-class SDHC card (both tests in slot 2 of course)

Is it possible to do a DOF preview in LV, i.e stopping down, zoom and check focus in different parts of the live feed?

Some screen shots would be handy (like those of the Flucard in use here and here, from a Pentax user in Germany).

Also some info on the distance it can be used indoors and out.

What is the range you see as far as how far away from the camera you can be?
How well does it stay connected, even if the camera goes to sleep?
How fast is the response of the connection?

How intuitive are the controls in your mind, compared to using the camera itself?

Just curious once it transfers the image to a computer or hard drive is there an option to erase?

Funny, but I'm more in interested in the Theta next to the FluCard in the top pic.

Battery life effect. Also, I'll describe how I would use it, tell me if it would work.

I set the tripod with long lens pointed at a nest site, close in. Aim the lens to get approach and entry. Then I move away, somewhere I can see the nest site but far enough away to not affect the wildlife.

So, how long will it run? Will the camera go to sleep and can I wake it up remotely? Can it continuous shoot, with afc? If I'm looking at some shots during a moment of inactivity, how long before I can get back into shooting mode if there is suddenly activity?

I might sit there for an hour or more, with multiple episodes of shooting separated by long periods of inactivity. Can it work like this?

I set the body and lens up and the center point is on the trunk of the tree. I find after a few shots that I want to focus slightly to the right to get the bird. Can I select the point and focus afc continuous from there?

Thanks
