K-3 Limited Edition Silver

Not sure if people saw it but the K-3 Limited Silver Edition is back in Australia on Pentax online for a short time.

https://www.pentax.com.au/product/k-3-limited-edition-silver

My sister works at a camera store and found out that there are two left in stock in Queensland. Might be more in other states.

Was lucky enough to be able to get one and upgrade from my beautiful K-5.

Is there a real difference (not just color), between black and silver versions?

I believe with the K5/Silver there was a different grip or something.

Paint is always the only difference when talking about the same model.

It came with a leather strap, also.

For that much extra that strap must be made from some top notch leather

Well, at launch it was 1600 MSRP for the silver which comes with the grip and the fancy strap

The body was $1300 at launch, and the grip was $200. So a $100 price difference. Don't think the strap is worth that much, certainly… but now that you can pick up the body + grip for $1300 (and until recently could get the 50mm lens and an SD card thrown in for free at that price), it's a little different field.

From one silver edition owner I've heard that the silver version feels better made (better materials or smth like that) compared to the regular.

I don't have the experience to compare, but I believe that is just smug

the silver body feels and looks great, much better than black ( but I have only K10+K-5 and K-30 in black) but I like the grip much better in black, the silver grip feels very plasticky.

Are you saying that the material used for silver/black feels of different quality?

Extra what? It's actually cheaper than the black version WITH a grip and extra battery.
Silver K-3 with grip and battery and 8Gb Flu card (+ special strap) = AUD$1599
Black K-3 + Grip + Extra battery + 8GB Flucard pro wireless SD card = AUD$1786

The underlying camera and grip are the same, the paint color is the only difference. Any perceived difference in 'feel' is all in your head

Body/Grip/Leather Strap/Extra Battery, all part of the kit. It all comes in one box. To sell it without a grip then someone would be pulling parts out of the box.

I'm afraid I must utterly agree. I've bought the K-3 Silver Ltd. AND the FA 31mm Ltd. Silver Edition. Photographing has thus become a drooling yummi experience ;-)

Now I only have to learn to use these babies wearing a bib. But I guess there is a price for everything.
