Flucard Question

Amazon has two flucards for sale. The Pentax one and a Trek one. There are other makes, too, such as Transcend and Eye-fi.

And some of these come as large as 128 GB, too.

Most if not all claim compatibility with various Pentax bodies, including the K-3, K-7, and K-r (of interest to me.) But does anyone have experience with any of these to know if they actually work well or as well as the Pentax card. I'm curious because the 128GB Transcend, for instance, is $30 LESS than the Pentax 16 GB card.

The Pentax card is the only one that will give you tethering. If you get another one you'll still be able to transfer files wirelessly, but nothing more than that.

What is the write speed of the Pentax Flu card?

My experience of the Pentax Flu-card:

The write speed on the Pentax O-FC1 is kind of slow compared to SanDisk Extreme 45MB/s. When the SanDisk is full I directly feel the camera slowing down.
It is not bad but also not very good in that regard. Exact MB/s I do not know, it feels like maybe 15...

EDIT: I meant 35 MB/s

See the write speed test here:

It's around 20Mb/s.

I assume that the built-in Linux is "upgradeable"? Or is it "burned in"?

I guess I need to decide if I need tethering. The write speed is an issue for me. I'm pretty spoiled by the 95 mbs cards.

Yup, if you want speed, the wireless cards won't deliver. But you can always have a fast card in sd1 and the tethering card in sd2...

That how I use it RAW to my 95Mb/s in slot 1 , small Jpegs to the Pentax flu.

This gives me tethering + image transfer at an acceptable rate whilst not compromising the cameras speed.

I guess it would be upgradeable in theory.

Exactly, store raw on the card in slot 1 not on the pentax flu card .... even if you do store the raw on the flu card it will not display or transfer them (unless you frig the browser url) so why would you ?
