Thanks for your input.
Can you tell me what wide angle lenses you use with the K3?
These days I use the Sigma 8-16 DC HSM for wide stuff. But the Sigma 17-50 EX DC HSM and even the Pentax SMC-FA 20-35 AL get mounted, depending on projected need and how much I want to carry.

Good luck.

The Sigma 8-16 doesn't have filter threads, as you may know. I don't use Lee filters (or any filters with the 8-16), but looking at their web site, it looks like they may have adapters for that type of lens. Their 100mm series looks most promising. Might just have to check that out myself...

I always wonder why almost no one has drop in filters for the ultra-wide angles. Perhaps the lens design is just too crammed?

Just looked at the lens design. Tough to know without seeing it at extremes in zoom/focus, but it sure seems like there's room.

I cleaned that out, but it could fill up quickly again this fall

I have, and use, both the K-3 and D800 for landscapes. They both produce nice images, though the D800 has more detail. I prefer to use the K-3 (or any of my Pentax DSLRs) to the Nikon. The counter-clockwise lens mount, needlessly complex menu system and poor dust removal system make it less than pleasant for me to use. On a recent trip I found dust spots all over the D800 images and I hadn't even changed the lens. The images taken with the K-3 and K-5 were all clean, and I'd changed their lenses a couple times. All 3 cameras had been cleaned, and checked, before the trip. The D800 takes great landscapes with a Zeiss 21mm though.

If you're seriously thinking of getting a D800, rent one for a week. It'll take a few days to figure out the menus, and then you can determine if you like it.

BTW - The K-3 is too new, it won't be replaced for a year or so.

Order the K3 with grip and card this morning before going to work, too good a deal to miss from B&H.
In my country I can get the K3 with the stock lens for about 300$ more, and that is without the battery grip and card..
Am mostly looking forward to use the autofocus and hoping the the viewfinder is a bit bigger ;-) also with out the antialiasing filter, the pictures should be sharper.

But... If Pentax comes out this fall with a full frame. I will come knocking on your door )))))
Joking aside, thanks for your and everyone's input. It is nice to be able to go on a forum like this, where mostly friendly people can guide you in ones addiction ;-)

As I live in a very small country (48000 people) and far away from the mainland Europe, it is so nice to be able to go and ask questions here, although I don't post much, I check this forum nearly everyday, and all your guys opinions about camera and lenses I value a lot, as I don't have the chance to test/ try cameras here.
My one exception was the 50-135 2.8 that I was able to try in Germany.

Have a nice day you all.

Ooooops! If Pentax comes out with a full frame, it won't be a replacement, it would be in addition too, the K-3. They are different classes of camera.

My thoughts as well, though I will have to build a bigger shelf. Too many cameras...too many lenses.
