I was just goofing around this evening with my K-3 and DA* 50-135. I was zoomed in all the way at f/2.8 in TAv mode, 1/80 sec., but it wasn't until I had it in Lightroom 5 that I realized it was ISO 16,000! For the record, it was shot as a DNG file. I didn't think NR would have much effect, but all I did was move the luminance noise-reduction slider to 30 - no other NR adjustments - and I was absolutely blown away!! I don't know how to export 100% crops, so here's a JPG of the entire shot. I just have to share this because I'm in a state of disbelief!

I am reading this thread since I saw a higher noise on the K-3 than I used to see in my K-5. few questions I was wondering about :
How do you get ISO 16,000? my K-3 ISO scale goes 6400, 12800 25600 . is there fine tune for the ISO ?
what software do you use to reduce the noise from the DNG files :

I believe getting an ISO of 16,000 was the result of setting my Custom Function setting #1 to 1/3 EV steps and setting #2 to 1 EV step. As for software, in my original post I mentioned that I use Lightroom 5's noise reduction features.

Makes me wonder if mine is ok....I can't go above 1600 without a lot of noise. 16000 would be very noisy.

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? Are you processing after you shoot? With a K3, you should be very capable of 1600+.
