Metz 50 AF-1 First Shot Overexposure

Hi all,

Noticed something interesting with my K3 that didn't happen with my Kr.

When I use my Metz 50 AF-1 flash with the K3 the first shot is overexposed. Subsequent shots are fine but the first one after a power up is overexposed. Almost like the Metz overcharged and it needs to dissipate that charge or it doesn't recognize the P-TTL mode for the first shot.

I shoot in manual mode. P-TTL mode.

This didn't happen with my Kr.

Any thoughts?

Got the same with my K3 and the Metz 58AF2. The K7 and K5 did the same. It also happend when you power down / up the flash, when the Pentax is still on.

I have the Metz 50 AF-1 on my K-3. Manual mode on the camera 1/180 f/5.6, flash on P-TTL. No difference between shots. Firmware K-3 1.11 and flash V4.0

Had no similar problems with Metz 58 AF-1 and *istD, K100Ds, K-5 and K-3.

Did you try to update Metz firmware?
