Adorama canned the k-3 sensor.. ?

</title> <meta name="Keywords" content="canon , nikon , pentax , sony , Nikon D3s , Pentax 645D , Nikon D3200 , Sony Alpha SLT-A99 , Canon 6D , Nikon D5200 , Nikon D7100 , Sony Alpha 7 , Sony Alpha 7R , Nikon D5300 , Pentax K-3 , Nikon Df , Nikon D33

I dunno if this is a repost, but there appears to be some faults in their rating system.
They score the k-3 highly but was vanquished to the bottom place.
Sure it wasn't going to get first place but the maths here does to add up.

Those are the DxOmark ratings, which has the K5 rated higher than the K3. Also notice the missing 645z? They said they pretty well have no plans to test it. I can let you figure out why.

What a score for color depth....Top 3 are in the 25's.... K-3 scores 32.7 Bits. I'll take that as a win

I did read that dxo produced the results but there was zero mention of any changes in benchmarks for scoring. It is just paraphrasing misleading results IMO. I mean they even put the winners of each category in bold d810 @ 25 bit colour depth aparently beats out the k3's 32bit ??
I can't say I am not suprised but I am disappointed adorama would be so careless in what they pass on

And I don't think the 645z is worth putting on this table As I falls in with hassleblad other medium format camera which would knock the d810 over.

Let's see a test for best glass. Pentax would run that list.

32 is wrong! based on DXO's website it's 23.7 for K-3! so they even didn't care about entering correct data! how do you expect a valid conclusion!?

It is annoying that they repeat what is a meaningless test. New buyers look at this and (reasonably) assume that it A) matters and B) is accurate.

The precision of the results is more than the accuracy of the test, so the conclusions they reach need to be taken with large bags of salt.

The 645D is mentioned so why is it compared? To give a false impression?

Really I am not entirely sure why they chose to add the 5 Year old 654D into this as the only medium format camera. But if I had to guess it would be so that they can give the impression that these cameras beat a professional medium format camera. (also the lack of adding PhaseOne cameras into this which would be even more competitive)
But given digital cameras have only been around for lets say 20 years? 5 years of technology makes the 645D almost vintage in comparison.
Similarly the put in the Leica M Type 240. This camera is nearly 3 years old.

And after doing a lot more reading on the DXO website they really don't seem to have scientific analysis at their heart, it seems to be very much a popculture driven review of things.

I suppose I just need to remind myself that at the end of the day reviews/benchmarks/tests such as this will not change what or how I shoot. I will go to my brick and mortar - SD card in tow, try a couple of the cameras and base my opinion on my experience with the camera. Heck if I was going for a nikon D810 or 645Z or anything in that kinda of $$ range I would hire one and try it for a week or so. $10-15k camera systems are not something I would base my choice on another persons opinion.
