Just ordered the FA43 1.9 for my K-3

After selling my DA 40 2.8 limited and some back and forth between the 55 1.4 SDM and the FA 43 1.9, I decided to go with the full frame FA43 for my K-3. I have the 16-50 and 50-135 and I like the FL of the 43 (portability and versatility). I also have the FA 50 1.7, and will decide the better of the two once the FA 43 arrives. Many of the samples I've seen are amazing on older Pentax cameras so I'm hoping the K-3 will make this lens shine...

I really like my 43 on my K3..... hope you do to. I sold my HD DA40 after getting the 43...... a good CPL filter works well on the 43.

It's the bargain buy of the 3 amigos (got mine recently for $A400). It doesn't generally seem to get the same adulation as the 31 and 77, which may be due more to the focal length on APS-C than to the image quality. When I got my 77 it clicked with me immediately, but I'm still getting used to the 43, probably because I'm more familiar with 35mm and 50mm and have got used to composing shots at those lengths. I can say that it's beautifully built and a joy to use. And I'm starting to see the pixie dust.

Surely the 43 will be in demand as a standard lens when the new FF camera comes out.

The FA 43mm is one of the reasons that Pentax is Pentax. That lens is so special and unique that it was even adapted to natively mount on a Leica.

Congrats!

It's my favorite of the three as I find it the most natural to use for almost any situation (for my style of shooting) except perhaps landscapes in which I'm preferring the 21 mm right now.

So, after a few days, I am beginning to really like this lens. Strangely, at first I didn't, but after getting used to it I am very pleased with the photos it takes with the K-3. The build quality is absolutely amazing. Zero play whatsoever. Looks like I now need to save up for the other two Amigos.

She's a quirky lens. It takes a while to learn her wiles, but when you get it right it is worth the wait. The 31 and 77 are almost too easy

I have the FA43 as well as to FA50 f1.7 too, needless to say the FA50 has not touched the camera since I got the FA43.

Its the second FA43 I have owned, and this brand new one seems super sharp wide open, where as the older second hand one never seemed that sharp @f1.9 in the centre.

I have been using the FA43 on my MZ-S and its a dream combo, light, compact and just the perfect single lens for walking around with. Wide enough for general shots, fast enough and long enough not to distort faces/people for impromptu portraits and just a lovely combo!

Examples on Film and K-01 (both wide open)

And just because:

So, I was able to get some good use today with the K-3 and the 43/1.9. Wow; I am absolutely thrilled by this amazing lens!! It's already my new favorite; I think I've found Pentax lens nirvana! I am so happy!

My FA43 got stolen along with my K5 and never had a chance to use this lens with the new K3. Oh the memories
