What we can use this feature for depends entirely on how long it takes to shoot. Any motion in between shots will cause artifacts on the final image. Unless pentax makes it blisteringly fast, it probably won't be useful for landscape photography.

I think what Jonby said is correct. You take a high res shot and also a normal shot and then if there are areas where there are artifacts, it is fairly simple to blend the images. I don't think it would be as hard to use as some think. HDR combines multiple exposures as well and while I wouldn't use it on a very windy day, there are plenty of times where there is little breeze/movement in a landscape and it is usable.

In the Q&A portion of the Press Release Ricoh states Pixel Shift will use the sensor's electronic shutter, so the mirror will stay up. Pixel Shift apparently combines LiveView and IBIS. The limiting factor for FPS is apparently the read speed of the sensor (8.3 FPS on the K-3II sensor). Whether the shutter moves once or four times isn't clear.

I think if I were using this feature for landscape I would probably always make a 'normal' exposure as well as the pixel-shifted set

this also brings to mind the potential of PS for selective sharpening...
