I used to have problems directly transferring images to my PC via USB 3.0 cable. Transfers, particularly those involving substantial numbers of DNGs, would stop after just a few images. It seems the K-3 is somewhat power-hungry during the procedure and thus asking for more power than one USB 3.0 PC port alone will consistently provide. Since I went via an inexpensive USB 3.0 hub with its own power supply (which requires another free USB port on your PC, needn't be USB 3.0), everything has been working like a charm, and I can take advantage of the noticeably faster transfer speeds.
