K3II advice

Well, I 'm new to the forum - but have browsed for awhile, and appreciate the reviews and general discussions.

I just received a new K3II from Amazon at a great price - but it's serial no. 6192121 - so falls within the possibly bad lot.
So far it has functional perfectly, but I'm wondering what the chances are that it will fail. Why is Amazon even shipping from this lot. They must know of the on/off issue by now.
Has anyone returned their camera and received a "good" serial no. in exchange, (has Amazon checked in advance of shipping!). Why has Ricoh not recalled all of the potentially bad lot is another question that stymies me.
What would you do?

Thanks for your thoughts.

No one knows the chances maybe not even Ricoh.

Amazon seems to be recycling bad numbers. One poster reports exchanging 3 k3-II from Amazon and still getting bad numbers.

B&H and Adorama reportedly stopped sales until they got replacement stock. Amazon does not seem to care.

I think the problem is Amazon not Ricoh.

I think the claim was one was returned that was in the service advisory serial number range and two had the power off lockup even though they were outside the advisory serial number range. I'm sure we'll be hearing from this poster very soon

Thanks guys. I'm going to try contacting Amazon directly to exchange for a good number . . .

I also have a K3II in the "bad" range and at this moment, the shutter count is at 2141 with ZERO problems. I've called Pentax about it was told not to worry, if does start having problems (related to the recall) it will be taken of, even after the warranty is up. So I'm just going to keep using it until it has problems or I upgrade, but I also have a K3 as backup.

I'm in the same situation. My K3II is in the S/N range as well but is working flawlessly. I plan on sending it in for a checkup sometime in late fall after some planned field trips. I have a K5 as my backup.
