Should I walk or run from this used purchase

As per the title, I don't think the following is worth CDN$1000. I'm thinking CDN$650

K-3 almost two years old, with just over 40,000 acutuations (person says he does a lot of time lapse).
The camera has been in for repair to the flash circuitry, not by Ricoh, but by a well-established repair company.

Motor ddrive with two third party batteries.

18-135 WR

I like the lens, perfect for my needs. Motordrive, nice to have, but repair and over 40,000 acutuations is making me hesitate. Isn't it almost 20% through its lifecycle?

It's not a local sale, so I'd be buying sight unseen.

I'm just waiting to see if a brand new K-3 with 18-135 drops in price in the near future.

Any thoughts, and thanks in advance!

Probably means battery grip cause they attach and look similar to old film motor drive attachments?

... LOL ... yes battery grip ... I must've gone back to my old Nikon FE days there ...
The K-3, in addition to being a great DSLR, can still shoot Ilford though? ... right ... ;-)

I would walk away from this one also.

I appreciate the seller's honesty in disclosing all this to you, but no - I would wait and look elsewhere.

Thanks for the prompt feedback gang!

Yep, you all reinforced my gut feeling here, regardless of how little I have to pay.

Thanks and take care!

With the announcement of the new full frame body (in about a week now), there are going to be quite a few K3 and K3II becoming available over the next few months. I would just patiently wait - or you could post a "wanted" post on the Marketplace.

It's not important whether you walk or run, but the direction ~is~ important ----> turn away from the deal, for many of the reasons already stated.

Oh, yeah; the used Pentax DSLR market is going to be a free-for-all shortly, as soon as the FF hits the stands. Save your $$$ for the K-3 of your choice.

Generally speaking, if you find yourself asking the question should I walk or run, the answer is run.
