I will likely continue using my K-3 for some time to come. First, I will not be amongst the early "beta testers" buying low serial number K-1's. Second, while there is still some interesting cropped sensor functionality in the K-1, the 24 MP output of the K-3 beats the 16 MP crop of the K-1 (especially if PP cropping is needed), even with some of the other K-1 improvements.
I am hoping (and am even expecting) that Pentax will continue developing quality APS-C bodies for some time yet. For a relatively compact and lightweight wildlife kit, a K-3 body with a sharp but compact long tele lens (in my case, an F* 300/4.5) (or with even a very compact DA 550-300/4-5.8) is still very appealing to me.
