Had no idea that there were more than one variant of OEM D-Li90 batteries. I am using two D-Li90 on my K-3 and grip.

Any D-Li90 should work. I think the suffixes are just for health&safety changes.

I think the K-3 uses the D-Li90E? The D-Li90 is 1050 a Mah and the D-Li90E is a 1860 Mah battery and it looks like they have different contacts.

If they both work then i would buy the higher capacity battery. It appears that the "E" version is a newer version with a higher capacity. The 1050 Mah D-Li90 doesn't last long enough for me,maybe i'm just used to the old K100D where i could shoot for a couple days all day long on one set of batteries.

I have one D-Li90E and one D-Li90 (both Pentax branded). Both of these work in my K-3.

I have a K-3 premium silver edition from mid October 2014 . Both camera and grip are equipped with a D-Li 90 with 1860 mAh.

All of my batteries are D-Li90 1860mAh -- all the way back from my 2010 K-7.

I'm assuming those are date codes (December 2011 and July 2012) so I don't think the D-Li90P is newer.

Based on the non-english charachers (Japanese? Chinese?) my guess is that it's regional. Maybe the fourth contact is for a country that has a different line voltage / frequency and allows them to properly charge the battery.

The two have the same capacity. The Li109 has a lower capacity and fits the k50 etc. But the two batteries you posted are identical except for some regulatory required changes which added the additional contact.

I have the dl-i90 for my k-5ii and DL-i90p for my k-3ii. Can either model be charged using either the 3 terminal charger or the 4 terminal charger? I haven't tried interchanging them.
