Grip Problem

I just noticed that the Pentax grip for my K3 isn't working. The shutter doesn't work on it and if you try to use the battery in it, it will flash "battery depleted" and won't operate. I cleaned the contacts and noticed that one of the pins is stuck all the way down. I guess that is probably the issue, but not sure how to fix it. I'm not particularly good with tools, but any input would be appreciated.

It's probably not worth the cost of sending it off to fix it, so I guess whatever I can do is probably about it...

(I'll see if I can post a photo of the pin later).

A previous poster with the same problem here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/294713-s...pin-d-bg4.html
Advice there was to try to push it in gently with a paperclip to see if that makes it spring back out.

I think it's a common issue on many devices that use plugs/connectors with similarly tiny spring-driven pins. It wouldn't take more than a speck of crud to inhibit the operation of such tiny pins. Paper-clip exercise of the pin sounds a good option.

Had this problem with a no-brand version. I gave up in the end as nothing would free the pins. So far with the genuine article I have had no problems.

I tried pushing it down with a paper clip, unsuccesfully. It feels pretty stuck...

Rondec,

Do you have any gun cleaner like CLP or EEZOX. I would try a tiny drop of one of these this on the stuck contact and let it flow down the pin. The nice thing about EEZOX is that it dries and leaves a layer of dry lubrication behind. Just a suggestion and something I would try on my own equipment.
