Yes, its a 15mp crop which is very good.Of course not as good as the K3s with 24mp.My K-01/K50s are 16mp,so for me its fine, ive got a FF and a K50 in the one package and a few other bells and whistles.

But the crop mode pix from the K-1 are at a lower resolution than the "regular" APS-C pix from the wonderful K-3, right?
Agree.

What giveaway, there are only 4 or 5 K-3 for sale on the Marketplace at the moment and all are asking 500.00USD+ (none listed in my local CL). Considering in the last Black Friday sale a K-3, plus grip and flash was sold at 629.00 before being discontinued shortly thereafter, 500.00+ is no bargain, imo.

Did you remember the price when the camera was release?

Who cares what the release price was, I tend to base my used equipment purchase based on the latest pricing before discontinuation. I believe the K-5 had an even higher release price than the K-3 no one was calling it a bargain when it hit 500.00 in the marketplace.

Wait, what? $500!?! That's not a give away. Unless someone is also giving away $500 bills, in which case I call
dibs on the first, (still third in line for the K-3II giveaway).

Genki, digital cameras are the product of a quickly evolving technology sector. In such a sector, prices are always
high for the latest and greatest, AND, prices for older technology, even just a couple years old, always falls sharply.
Personal computers rode that wave for a good 20+ years, only stabilizing a bit in the past ten years or so. Digital
cameras are still on a steep evolution, though I do think they too are nearing a saturation point where the old is still
good enough to not make the new quite so much more 'better'.

Lenses are a different matter altogether. Making good glass is expensive and has been expensive for some time.
Modern refinements are on a micro scale, witness all the pixel peeping to distinguish a good lens from a not quite
as good one. A good lens will not depreciate much, and old, good glass still commands a price validating their usefulness.

i'm not giving away my K3, but it may never see the light of day again.

at 600, i'm in a quandary if it's even worth selling, given what I paid for it.

I have a K1 and already know I will never reach for the K3 again.

I guess, to some extent, whilst "Pentaxians" can be somewhat melencoly about some things, such as "old" lenses etc...... the release of new camera bodies in reasonable succession over the past few years along with "Pentaxians" reasonably rapid uptake of such, has demonstrated that whilst we may be brand loyalists (to some extent), we are infected with 21st century consumerism as much as any other group of the population (mostly)........... ultimately....... "we are all doomed" via our unending human appetite

On the other hand, Ricoh/Pentax's ability to go on releasing new cameras with new and/or improved features is a good indication that it is not DOOOOOMED!!!

I have the same thoughts, but I love the k3 and I go to keep to use with some Pentax-A lens

Edit: Dang, beat to the punch by IgorZ. Still, I'm here and I care.
Thank you for let me know, but I go to keep mine.

Now you're playing smart! One generation back, that's been my policy for a long time. Unless you have an absolute
need to have the cutting edge, you'll get far more bang for your buck by purchasing not the newest model but one
generation back. And when the inevitable depreciation comes, it will be much, much less significant.

Less than $1000 was my target price to purchase the K-3 and I feel the same about the K-1. Sometime next year
ought to be just about right.
