On an unrelated matter, what brand and model is the microphone on top of the two Pentaxes at the head of this thread?

I've seen it around before, but it's not a Pentax mic. Or is it?

I would like to have one and I'll pay for the freight. I'm sure I will like the k-3.

I am another one accepting the donation of a K3 or a K3II.

If anyone is giving one away, I will happily take it off of your hands.

Now you're playing smart! One generation back, that's been my policy for a long time. Unless you have an absolute
need to have the cutting edge, you'll get far more bang for your buck by purchasing not the newest model but one
generation back. And when the inevitable depreciation comes, it will be much, much less significant.

Less than $1000 was my target price to purchase the K-3 and I feel the same about the K-1. Sometime next year
ought to be just about right.
Absolute Right, is better to wait and buy a k1 with a reasonable price.

Thank you!

Seems a decent [and expensive] stereo microphone. But LR44 batteries? Ugh.

I guess people who have purchased a K-1 are selling their K3s and that is probably driving the price down. Personally, I am keeping my K3 and shooting it along size my K-1. You want to talk about a depressed market, I also own a K-01 and I am not even certain what I could get for that if I decided to sell it.

Anyway, I think a lot of folks have been craving full frame for a long time and this is their opportunity to go that direction and so they are ditching their old gear. But certainly plenty of folks will stay with crop cameras as well.

I've got a D810 and two D800E and yet I still love my K-5. I'm not at all interested in a K-3 though, and would gladly swap a D800E for a K-1.

I bought an used K-3 like new condition (shutter count 1,100) for 350€. Gave my K-5IIs to my wife and we sold my wife's K-5 for 170€.

So the upgrade from old K-5 to like new K-3 cost us 180€. I think these are happy times for APS-C shooters too.

I need to add that step from K-5IIs to K-3 is bigger than I thought. There are lot of improvements in K-3.

Although dreaming of getting a K-1 next year..

Send any K3 or K3 II 'red headed stepchildren' for free to my house...... To Sherrvonne.... In Texas.... It will be properly re-homed and have siblings. That counts also for unneeded DA lenses.

I find these prices to be very strange, especially for Europe. Unless there's something peculiar about Finnish pricing, I see both of these prices as being just a bit above half of market value

With so many already in line for the k3ii giveaway, it hardly seems worth joining.

Instead, consider me first in line for the k-1 giveaway (scheduled to begin shortly after its successor is released).

Finland is small market and Pentax is not popular here. This affects Pentax prices for used equipment. I still agree specially K-3 was very cheap. Also the lust for K-1 affects Pentax APS-C prices now. I have never seen as many cameras and lenses for K-mount on sale in Finland as now. This means multiple bodies and lenses at the same time

The condition of K-5 was also very worn (see the image). I think it was fair price for it.

I happily upgraded to my K-3 from a K-10D a little over a month ago. I just couldn't resist the price drop, and probably would not have sprung for the $1,700 (plus new lenses) for the K-1 anyway. Nice camera, but out of my price range.
