Black first image

Lately, after 3 years with the K 3, when I start a new series of shots (e.g., first of the day, or after a long break), the first image is totally black, as if greatly underexposed. Any idea what's going on?

Camera? Old or faulty card?

Could possibly be the card. Have you tried a different one?

Just for grins maybe post one with EXIF intact? Also what mode are you shooting in and what file format (raw, jpg, raw+)

If images have been backed up from the card, you may want to format it prior to each use in the camera it is going to be used in. I may have experienced what you have mentioned, but it was not ongoing.

Happens to me all the time: that's how I know to remove the lens cap.

(Sorry, just couldn't resist the straight line)

Seems too consistent in pattern - not at all what my experience was on my k-50.

Thanks folks...

Card: Hmmm..sensible, and easily tested. I will simply change cards to check.

Mode: I use M mode almost all the time...except for fast-movement/sports shots. Should this cause a problem?
