DCU5 and Pixel Shift

Hi, I recently had my hard drive replaced and had to reload a bunch of programs. I loaded DCU5 for a pixel shift image, but it won't open it, can't even see it on my card. I've taken Pixel shift shots before with no trouble. Is it possible I have the wrong disc, or is my old memory letting me down and I can't remember how to do it. I upgraded DCU from the website, but no difference.

The latest version from the Ricoh website should work with PS.

It could be the problem with the histogram window obscuring the view. Either close the histogram window or change it to docking (right click on the histogram title bar).

If go into the DCU menu Windows - Default Layout should reset the layout and dock the defaults.

This is the load page, there are 2 pics on the card, the one shown is a regular shot and the other pixel shifted. Version 5.6.2 Thanks

Do the have the same file name with different extensions? Is one a Jpeg and the other a PEF/DNG e.g. IMGP1234.JPG and IMPG1234.DNG? If that's the case click on the icon on one of the toolbars that says RAW+. This toggles between showing them as separate files or one. If you have it in the combined mode and there are multiples there will be a + sign on the thumbnail next to the file type (below the thumbnail image to the left e.g. PEF+)

They are both dng files, toggling the RAW+ button makes no difference. Ive attached a screen shot of Lightroom in case that helps.

The file may be corrupted. Can you view it in the camera? Can you develop it in the camera to a jpeg? What happens if you copy the files from the card to your PC or Mac using the OS (drag and drop)? Can you see/open the copied files? If DNG or PEF extensions (PC) are associated with DCU the file should open into DCU when you click on the file from Windows Explorer. On a PC you can right click on the file to and choose "Open With".

Yes, it appears the file is somehow corrupted, when I open the card in Explorer it reads 0KB. I'll have to try again in the morning.

If you continue to get corrupted files there may be a problem with your card.

I don't know about Lightroom, I'm not certain if it has been updated yet to best process Pixel Shift with Motion Correction. DCU has options to turn on Pixel Shift and Motion Correction - the same as the camera. I think it defaults to your camera setting. You may want to play around with those to see what effects it has on your images just for your own sake.

What some people do is process the image in DCU saving as a TIF and then to the heavy post processing on the TIF in Lightroom or Photoshop.
