The Tamron 10-24 is not a bad lens. It's just not as good as the DA 15 when you can shoot at 15mm. If you need 10mm or 24mm the 10-24 is much better than the DA 15
Agreed.

I have the Tamron 10-24, and really love it. I've not had the opportunity to try the Sigma, so cannot make any comparison.

I don't think you could go wrong with either!

Thank you, I'm going to look into this one.

I had the Tamron 10-24/3.5-4.5, but I was always disappointed in it over my DA15. I now have the Sigma 10-20/3.5 (which is more expensive than the f/4-5.6 you mention), and I find it much better (still not as good as the DA15).
Thank you for your feedback.

The correct lens to get is the Sigma 8-16, at least for me.
Thanks so much, I'll check out the links.

Why not also consider the Sigma 8-16. I own it and it is awesome for real estate, architecture and landscape. The extra 2mm s a big difference.
I will, thank you Steve.

I agree with KLH. I have the sigma 10-20 3.5 and the pentax da15....the 15 is amazing but sigma is nice too

If you would like to test the Sigma 10-20 send me an IM
Thank you for your feedback, I'll be reviewing all the ones mentioned so far and I'll keep the option open for for testing the Sigma 10-20 you have.

I have had both and they are very capable lenses. The sigma 3.5 is a bit better than both.
Thanks so much for the feedback.

I rented the 8-16 lens, and it's special. My wife still shares images taken with that, so I think I could probably justify its purchase eventually. Not this year, I blew my budget already!

The 10-17 is different, but very good, the easiest fisheye for Pentax, I think. At 17mm it's not super-fishy, so should be in contention.

My go-to wide angle is the DA21mm, which really isn't UWA so don't let that sway you.
Thanks so much for your feedback.

I don't do a lot of UWA, but when I do I use the Sigma 10-20/3.5...

I own the Tamron 10-24 and love it. I have used my dads Sigma 10-24 3.5 and really can't tell any difference in them. They are all good lenses and you could not go wrong with any choice you make. I just prefer Tamron because it zooms the same direction that my Pentax lenses do.

Since you mention January as the start of when you might purchase, don't forget about the upcoming DA* 11-18. I would expect it to be more expensive than the Sigma, but I think worth checking out.

I have the Pentax 10-17 and in my opinion, it rocks. I have only used it a couple of times and I am amazed by the pictures.

FWIW, bought the Sigma 10-20/3.5 from ebay. Looks like new in and out and seems to be sharp and WIDE (can take a selfie with a small group!) Zoom rotates same way as Pentax but focus is opposite direction. As compared to Sigma 17-70 Contemporary, which is opposite Pentax for both... huh. Build quality on the 10-20 is very solid and has an instant manual focus override (just turn) with smooth feel and long travel to get around from infinity to close. Looked at all the reviews on the lenses mentioned above and went with price, condition (hoped they were honest - looks like they were!), and availability in my timeframe. Sounds like any of the choices would be good if the lens is solid. Good luck and happy shooting!

Thank you, yes I been reading about it and it looks as though it may be a great lens for me, my only concern would be the cost. I could either wait several more months before purchasing or stick with my original budget for January, something else for me to figure in.

Thank you, yes I been reading up on this one a little bit and it seems to be a great lens, my only concern is it to fishy or not?

Thank you Jim for the feedback, I seem to be leaning more towards this lens at the moment but I'm still keeping my options open.

Well I'm most likely going to settle between one of these two similar lenses and both are affordably priced too.
Although it seems I'm leaning more for the Sigma.
Thanks everyone for the feedback, I found it most valuable.

I would take the sigma 10-20 over the Pentax just because of the fisheye effect of the last one. I personnaly choose the sigma 8-16 and never looked back.

Sigma 10-20 on Christmas Eve a few years ago. I had to square crop it because the lens hood got knocked out of place and cause vignetting...

Thank you for the feedback, it seems the sigma 10-20 is pretty popular from what I have been researching so far.
That Sigma 8-16 looks to be a great lens unfortunately the price is out of my budget.
