K3 with DFA* 50 1.4

Not great a driving this forum but did try have a good look. Even google didn’t help much.

Trying to find some photos and or thread of someone using new DFA*50mm with a K3.

Would love to see how it looks on the K3. And hear users thoughts.

If someone could post a link or a photo and some thoughts that would be very appreciated.

Apart from the size I thought there would be more people running this set up as I’m sure I’m not the only person that loves 50mm on an Aps-c camera

Thanks

Luke

Hi Luke, the only images on the forums with the " fat " 50 ( Sample Photo Search ) are from the K-1, K-1 II and the KP. Hopefully a member who owns
the K-3 and the lens, but hasn't uploaded any images yet, will chime in.

See here:

Overall, looking to be a stellar lens, what you would expect from a STAR.
And don't worry about them being shot with the K-1, because it will be just as good (just cropped) on a K-3.

Thanks Ash

I've read all the basic stuff I can see here about the lens

The one K3ii review I see in the review section says 'buy it now'. :-) Not overly helpful but points for effort for adding something as others don't even bother.

Was really hopping for some actual K3 with DFA* 50 attached photos of the camera lens combo and comments.

I see in the in-depth review the 50mm physical size next to the DFA 24-70 but believe that to be lighter? So not sure how the 50mm would handle on a K3?

Just thought somewhere on this interweb there would be a photo but I can't see one lol :-)

Im guessing it would have to be amazing on a K3 also

All good

Thanks again Ash!

Luke

Here's an image of it on a K-3, from our very own forum database:

But seriously, what you see on the K-1, you pretty much see on the K-3. The K-1 is only marginally larger than the K-3 if grips are not attached to the cameras.

I think what he is asking for are photos of the lens on a K-3ii. Here are some I just took quickly for him. Reduced in size for upload.

And they might just be the first set of photos of this combo online anywhere. It’s a hefty lens, but I’m sure the IQ is worth it.

It is a large lens but not overwhelming even on the K-3ii. Truth is I decided to hold on to my DA*55 1.4 because it is so compact and only give up a little to the big lens. So now I have both lenses but I use the DA* more.

Sounds like you’re gearing up to pair it with the K-1, keeping the 55 for the K-3.

Sadly, I am not that orgainized, Ash! I will probably use the DFA 50 mainly for indoor work and keep the little DA55 for hiking, etc. I am the worst kind of amateur. I just love playing with the equipment and seeing what happens

I note your K 3 II does not have the optional battery grip:

??? He wanted to see the lens on the camera. I have the battery grip but almost never use it. No reason to add it for the picture. I am not one of those who thinks the grip adds "stability" with large lenses. De gustibus non disputandum est.
